DIY Ice Cream MOCHI - You Made What!

[Beach Sketch MUSIC] Hello, my lovelies! It's Emmy. Welcome back to another "You Made What?!" Today's recipe is a perfect summertime treat. It is for "Do-it-yourself ice cream mochi." So if you don't know what ice cream mochi is, it's, basically, a small ball of ice cream that is coated in mochi, which is a pounded sweet rice confection that's very popular in Japan. So you get this kind of chewy, sticky mochi on the outside, and beautifully cold ice cream in the middle.

A beautiful dessert that you can actually find here in the US, but, it's a little bit harder to find and it's quite expensive. So, today I'll show you how to make it quite simply at home, and, yes -- I should mention that this recipe was adapted from my friends "Cooking with Dog," who have a beautiful channel here on YouTube. If you don't know them, they are marvelous: Francis and Chef have really great, beautifully made videos all about authentic Japanese cooking. So, yeah, be sure to show them some love if you don't know them already.

I love them. They're one of the first channels I ever subscribed to. They're great. And if you love these fun recipe experiments, be sure to subscribe for more makin'! All right! Let's go ahead and get started.

So, we're going to begin by shaping our ice cream. So get yourself a small ice cream scoop and pack in your ice cream. You want to make sure you pack this in really tightly so you can avoid any air bubbles. Because I want my mochi to sit nicely on a plate, I decided to form these into little hemispheres so they have a nice, flat bottom.

Place your scoops into little silicone cups or even paper cups -- something that you can easily peel away from your ice cream when you're ready to shape your mochi. Then pop these bad boys into the freezer and allow them to freeze completely. So, first we are going to add 75 grams of mochiko, which is sweet rice powder. Next we're gonna add 100 grams of granulated sugar.

Give this a whisk, and then add 100 mililiters of water. And blend that all up until there are no lumps, and the sugar is completely dissolved. Next we're going to wrap this with a little bit of plastic wrap, and place in a 600 watt microwave oven for 2 minutes. If your microwave wattage is higher, you can try using the defrost setting.

While the mochi is in the microwave, take a cookie sheet and generously dust it with a layer of potato starch or you can also use corn starch. After 2 minutes, give your mochi dough a stir; replace the plastic wrap; and microwave for an additional 40 seconds. After forty seconds, your dough should look something like this: nice and shiny, and much more dough-like. Whip up the dough to make sure everything is well incorporated, then turn it out onto your potato starch-coated cookie sheet.

Then dust the top of the mochi with more starch, and use your fingers to press the hot dough out into a six by twelve inch rectangle. I actually formed mine a little bit bigger because my ice cream scoop is slightly larger. Once you have your rectangle formed, place it into the refrigerator and allow it to chill for 30 minutes. Next we're going to cut it into 8 equal pieces.

To separate our mochi squares, we're going to use some plastic wrap in between every layer. Then use a spatula to scrape up a mochi square and dust off the excess starch. Then place another layer of plastic wrap, and then continue doing this, sandwiching each layer of mochi with the piece of plastic wrap. Return these to the freezer and allow them to chill for at least 30 minutes and up to an hour.

When you're ready to assemble everything, get your ice cream balls out of the freezer, along with your mochi wrappers. I found using a mini cupcake tray really helpful in terms of shaping and holding the mochi. Use a piece of plastic wrap and put it into a well of a muffin tin. Then place a square of mochi in there and kind of press it down.

Then working quickly, peel the paper off your ball of ice cream and place the ice cream, rounded side down. Then flip each corner of the mochi, being careful to pinch the edges together, so the mochi sticks together and wraps your little ball of ice cream. Then cover the whole thing in plastic wrap. And I found inverting it was a really good way to keep the nice round shape.

Now return this all into the freezer and allow it sit at least an hour before serving. And there you go: cute, adorable ice cream mochi. [Beach Sketch MUSIC] All right! So that's how you make the ice cream mochi. Now, let's do the fun part and give it a taste.

OK. Let's grab this one first. I'm gonna do this quickly because the ice cream is going to melt. Unwrap the mochi.

On initial look, they look just like the ones that you can buy! Yeah -- nice and frozen, and a little bit dusty -- and we'll give this a slice. And there it is! Perfection -- if I do say so myself. All right! So let's give 'Little Miss Strawberry' a taste. She looks great.

And, it's nice and frozen solid. All right, here we go. Itadakimasu! Hmm, hmm, hmm! Mm-hmm! Really nice. The mochi is soft, slightly chewy, and the ice cream is deliciously creamy and strawberry and fantastic.

Love it! Really great summertime treat. So, I think my little ice cream balls were a little bit bigger than the ones that Francis and chef showed. So, my mochi layers are a little bit thinner. If you like a thicker chew and more mochi, I would suggest using a little bit smaller scoop.

But for me, this is perfect. Let's try green tea next, which is my favorite. So here is the matcha. Unwrap it -- and there he is.

Cut that one. And that one turned out equally beautiful! So, give that a cut. Mmmm... So good.

Ice cream is slightly bitter -- the mochi, again, is sweet and chewy and it's just a cool, refreshing, delightful dessert. Love that! That one definitely so far is my favorite. Last one we have is mango. According to Francis and chef, this is a very popular flavor as well.

So, let's have... Let's try that one. Mm-hmm... Mm! That one has a really intense mango flavor because it is sorbet.

Isn't having that milk in there, that kind of can mask some of those fruity flavors -- delicious! So that's how you make a beautiful summertime dessert. Sike. It actually did not go wrong. It went very right. I just cut my hair on YouTube, and Im super
excited with the way that it turned out.

So, Im gonna share this tutorial with you
guys. This is for all of you busy women out there,
busy students on the go, busy moms--all you women who are looking to give yourself a little
trim without spending that extra cash. Alright, guys. So, I hope you enjoy this tutorial.

Alright, guys. Here is everything that Ill be using for
this tutorial. A garbage bag to create a little protector
for my clothes, a paddle brush, a comb, hair scissors, some hair elastics, and just some
water in a water bottle. First thing that I am going to do is brush
this hair to make it as straight as possible.

I already washed my hair maybe 40 minutes
prior to filming this tutorial, but its already kind of dry. So, Im going to need to spritz it with
some water to get it a little bit more damp. Next, Im gonna take my garbage bag and
some scissors, and Im gonna create a little t-shirt--a little protective t-shirt for my
clothes and also for my room because Im not trying to have any hair in my video room. So, I just cut out a hole for my head.

That should be big enough, and then Im
gonna cut out some arm holes. I think Im just gonna cut all the way down. Then, Im gonna put this creation over my
head. Perfect.

Exactly what I was looking for. Alright. So, now that Im cutting my hair, my table
and my floor will be protected. Im gonna flip all of my hair forward.

Im gonna brush it out one more time, and
then Im going to separate it in the middle. Im gonna create a part using this comb. Im gonna keep it as straight and even as
possible so that both sides of my hair are equal, meaning that theres the same amount
of hair in this side as in this side. I gotta say, Im a little nervous.

Ive done this countless times, but Ive
never done this on camera. So, Im afraid that I may mess up, but I
hope I wont. I find that working with wet hair is much
easier than working with dry hair. So, thats why Im doing that.

Im gonna brush it out one more time. Because my hair is layered, I just want to
trim the bottom part of my hair. So, the longest layer. What Im gonna do is take about this much
off.

Whew, here it goes. And then, Im gonna use my comb to make
it even straighter. Now, that actually looks a lot more than an
inch and a half--more like two inches and a half, but thats okay. My hair was dead anyway.

Okay. Time to make them match. Im gonna repeat the same thing on the other
side. Brush it out, take it into my fingers, use
my fingers as a guide first, and then use the comb for a straight edge.

Straight enough. Next thing Im gonna do is gather up all
of my hair in this front pony. This could be a style, huh? And Im just gonna secure it with an elastic,
brush it out, and then Im gonna chop a little bit from the bottom of the pony. Something like this.

Now, because you dont want everything to
be super straight, you can go into the hair and cut vertically, like so. It also helps to sort of twist the hair and
cut it at a diagonal. Especially if you have layers, this is a great
trick for layers. Woo.

Okay. Elastic off. Im gonna split my hair down the center
one more time and Im just gonna do the same thing--cutting upwards--on each of the
two sides. Okay.

Combing this hair, picking it up with my fingers,
and Im gonna flip over the ends so I can see them and so that you can see them. Something like this, and then Im going
to sporadically go in and gently cut on a vertical angle. Same thing on the other side. Just a little vertical action.

This helps to sort of sheer out the volume
of your ends because you dont want your hair to kind of look like a bell. Its not not cute. You want it to be thinner on the bottom so
that its nice and fluffy and full of volume on the top. Just spraying over the front of my hair because
Im gonna do a little trim here too.

Im getting really ambitious here. Im going to go down on a sort of diagonal
and very gently trim off that angle like that. Cool. Im not gonna get too crazy because, honestly,
I dont even know if this is gonna look good.

Im hoping it will. And I promise you this is much easier to do
in the comfort of your own bathroom in front of your mirror then in front of the camera. There we go. If youre a righty, just use your right
hand.

Just flip it over, and get this sort of angle
going, and boom. Just making sure that these two are even. Alright. Let me blow dry this hair and Ill be right
back with the final result.

Yikes. Alright, and here is the big reveal. Im gonna push all of my hair to the front
so you could really see it. Not bad, huh? What do you guys think? Heres what it looks like from the back.

I personally have not seen it, but Lee says
it looks good. So, I trust him. I think its a yay. Honestly, Im really, really happy with
the way that it turned out.

I was super nervous, kinda jittery during
the whole tutorial part--especially when I. Was cutting the hair--but now I can breathe
out a big sigh of relief--phew--and Im really happy that this video can be helpful
to some of you. Especially with school right around the corner,
I know all of you busy students, busy moms, busy women on the go, this is kinda something
that will make your life a little bit easier because, lets face it, hair cuts and trims
cost about the same and who has time to get them every three to four months? I certainly dont. This is exactly why I made this tutorial for
you guys.

Hair Hacks for Big Voluminous HairTina Yong

Hey guys! It's Tina here, welcome back to my channel. For today's hack episode, I'm going to show you some cool hair hacks that will help you create voluminous hair Th first hack I have for you is to change the way you blowdry your hair. Usually I would blow dry my hair downwards, but if you want to create volume, flip your hair over and blow dry your hair upside down. Make sure your hair dryer is on a medium to high heat, that way you can dry your hair in the opposite direction and then when you flip it back around, you'll have some natural volume If you don't want to blow dry your hair because it's already dry, you can use a hair styling powder The one I'm using today is the Evo Haze Styling Powder   All I'm going to do is sprinkle this powder onto my to my roots and I'm going to section off layer by layer so I can get it really in there.

Once it's in I'm going to use my fingers to massage and move the powder around This powder adds a little bit of grit and texture to your hair creating more volume Another way to add volume to your roots is by teasing your hair. All your going to need is a rat tail comb and hairspray. Today I'm using the Fudge Think Big Texture Spray All I'm gonna do is section off that area, spray it with the hairspray and then backcomb the roots. I'm going to do this in small sections around my crown area and then one I'm done, I'm gonna flip the hair back around and smooth out the top layer to cover all the mess underneath and voila! Your hair is more voluminous.

I know teasing and backcombing isn't for everyone because it can damage some really fine hair so if you want another way to create that volume in the roots, you can try crimping your hair. I know right, a crimper. This is so old school but this is really good for creating volume. Today I'm using the Babyliss Pro Super Crimper Once again I'm going to section off my hair and I'm going to start crimping from the inside of my hair.

I'm gonna leave a layer of hair just to cover up the crimp later and I'm just gonna crimp my roots in sections again I do this all around my crown area and then I flip my hair back and because I didn't crimp the top layer and it's still straight I'm gonna use that to cover up the rest of the hair underneath so you hide the crimp. This next hack is great for those of you who are like me and can't blow dry your hair, at least professionally to save your life. Drop your round brush and hair dryer we're gonna go in with a hair curler You want to make sure you pick a big barrel hair curler Today I'm using the Babyliss Pro Styling tool With my hair, I like to divide my hair into two sections and I always curl from the back. So I grab a section on the back and start curling my hair away from my face Once the hair is curled I leave the secition to cool.

This is a really important step, otherwise if touch or brush your hair its gonna go straight again So I do this all around my hair and I grab pretty big sections. This is gonna make the whole process faster and plus I won't want defined curls, I just want my hair to be that nice voluminous blow dried wavy hair just like how the pros do it in the salons Once everything is curled, I'm just going to use my fingers to shake it up a bit This is gonna help cool everything and let some of the hot air out Then I'm gonna use my fingers to brush through my hair and that's it! Doesn't it look amazing? And finally for the ultimate voluminous hair that's gonna last you all day long. Hey guys, how's it going? It's Justine & Jenna, and today we are gonna be making ice cream I love ice cream and I love ice cream so much the video that we did on Jenna's channel a while ago We made that mold ice cream-

We are making ice cream We are going to be using a ball now You basically put ice cream mix into this ball, and then you put ice on the other side of it And then you roll the ball for about 20 minutes, and then guess what? You have ice cream I did that earlier, and I knocked over the whole during- Um? This is ice cream solvent? Yeah, this is recommended on Amazon, but man this box has been destroyed This is if you want to take your ball in the pool. So don't float are you wait wait wait? It's inflatable well. We don't need that right now You will blow this for me.

Yo I hate it hurts. My ears shoot. Me too. Well we might not listen up We might not inflate our balls, but that penology in play that crap.

Oh yeah, that's the problem. I use this unbox stuff It's not clean part makes Holly burst into flames Pardon me well at first I. Didn't really had a ready to roll doing rice in the bowl Yeah, get break at the rice ready pour the mixture into the metal sill into the top for expansion This is where putting the ice and the silver inside of it is where the ice cream goes. Thank God I.

Don't want to drop the ball on this one oh Yeah, hold up straight Put it about an inch give it. That's an inch Yes, yeah, yeah, it's good. It's good enough. So now what we're gonna.

Do it's gonna close this up You don't want our cream coming yeah, now. We're home. We gotta go play with the ball. What does Maddie's gonna like it? I'll be rolling this and all of his pee that's disgusting well.

It's facts put the foot they've left Let's put the inflator on light it up This is like did you like Oh God yeah breathe let's just go around You're covering to put the ball in its protective gear it just goes like this Then you this is absolutely ridiculous. Can you imagine having this at a pool party? Tight squeeze around this book This is fun So it's done yet Oh I quit oh I don't think I'm ready This is still this is not even cold. I think we still have like 10 minutes to go. Oh Oh Gosh delicious.

You realize you just like the boy I just lick the ball you guys like the but you guys are just like dog pee I. Just rolled this ball, I'm crap. What do I do all right? What do I do? I want to make us ice cream? You know turn the dryer that is an Absolutely incredible idea except. It'll break your dryer.

It's just an empty out some of the water from the ice I think I'm enjoying what am I immature? SLU turn doesn't say rolled around and dog through all But if I put it on like this is a bad idea You look miserable, this is what I look like it's a lock We've been doing this for like 20 minutes or so and I don't want to do it anymore here we go It's so good here, I'll take a bite of you give me the camera I. Where did the Sun go It was out a second ago, so I woke up today. I was like hey. I hate my hair I don't like it look at this color. It's freaking orange who has orange hair Nobody really has orange hair like come on.

Let's be real right now. It's either blonde or is Brown or if you're a natural redhead Nobody chooses to have this color unless the hair was very badly bleached and has it happen to me My hair was not bleached. Well because I already had color in it so when you bleach it It's gonna give you this really ugly orange color say hello to pustulio by the way It says hi oh no man. My skin's been like hella good, and then this ugly motherfucker pustulio shows up again I'm a camera like I sign my window people driving by like What? Is she taking a selfie Outside her car and the store's peeking at me where I'm going to buy my hair, dye Okay she turned around I.

Gotta fix my tire pressure by the way. I don't know why this is such a issue Okay, is she coming outside? She going on a break. We gonna close the window. I ain't tryna have no human interaction today Well there's a gold pearl why are we home it's only half an hour looking at all the colors and everything I'm gonna do this all by myself Okay, so I got a color kit comes with some gloves put some gloves on Number one step, this is the step that when I've dyed my hair throughout the years by myself Which was like a couple of times and it came out really bad and you would think I would learn to just go to somebody but I.

Go to the big, man Let me do it here the plan is to make some strands purple and some strands blue Probably brush my hair before I do this. I'm never brush my hair guy so excited Okay, what if this sucks and I don't want to do it like halfway through. This is same color up here as it is down here I thought the ends would be lighter because they were bleached but apparently not because if you have like bleached hair It's gonna be lighter on those parts Okay, see that. (Buzzing) (whimsical music) - Hi, I'm Matt Iulo, I'm the founder here at Scalp Micro USA. This is a type of tattooing, it's really classified
as micropigmentation, or cosmetic tattooing, okay. There are some key difference between what we do and what you
know your tattoo artist at the local shop would do. One, we don't go as deep into the skin.

This is to avoid migration over time. We use a specialized pigment that is diluted accordingly
to match the client's hair tone and skin tone. So today we're gonna be
starting a first session for our client. It's an exciting day
for him as it is for us.

We'll be doing some hairline work as well as density work
throughout the scalp. So the fun part is really in the design and the artwork of the hairline, making sure it's perfect for our client. And then we'll spend about
an hour and half, two hours, filling in follicle by
follicle throughout the scalp to start bringing back that color to make it look as if
his hair was never gone. - My name is Keith Lawrence, I'm here to do scalp micropigmentation.

I felt like my hair was receding,
or it was getting light. I felt like I just didn't

And then we'll discuss hairline. Do you have an idea of the
style that you're after with the hairline? - More of a natural hairline. Not straight edge and sharp, but you know a natural. - Right, not too boxed out.

gonna be restoring the hairline. Gonna bring the back in.

And also fill in a little
