Salon Marketing - A Salon Business Plan Strategy for Client Retention

Hey it's Dustin with dustinnccorchuk.Com and I'm totally pumped in this video to share with you the four-step
system that we have implemented into our salon to dramatically increase the
return rate of our clients turning first time client into lifelong clients so
stick with me. As a salon owner that lives in a city where there's a salon on every block I totally understand the importance of getting the first time
client to book a second appointment so they can become a return client in your
salon. Of course it's always a great idea to be able to pre-book them while they are still in the salon. But we all know that doesn't always happen so does that
mean that this client is gone for good? Or is there something you can do to
dramatically increase the likelihood of them booking another appointment with
you in the future.

I've created a simple and unique four step system called the Salon
Profit Circle that will dramatically increase the amount of return clients you
get your salon and will also get your clients to share your salon on social
media. The four steps are easy to remember because they all start with the letter S
they are Service, Survey Social Share and Social Proof. The first step is service
and it's probably a no brainer for you when you get a client to sit in your
chair it is your goal to absolutely give them the best customer service and the
best hair service that's possible so that they prebook their next appointment
with you while they're still in there in the salon. When this occurs, you don't even have to do the next three steps.

Step number 2 is a survey. Within 24 hours of your
first time client's visit you wanna send them an email or text message with a link to a
4 or 5 question survey on your website. What this does is it allows your customer to give feedback which gives them a sense of investment in your salon and sets them up for step number three which is where all the money's at. Number three is social
share.

Once they click the submit button on your survey, it redirects them to
another page on your website which says thanks for filling out our survey we'd
like to give you $5 off your next appointment all you have to do is click the Facebook
share button right below this video. When they click the facebook share button
unlocks a voucher for $5 off their next appointment was really sweetens the deal
for them to book their second appointment in your salon. If they're willing to do that
they're willing to come back. They say word of mouth is the best form of
advertising and so not only did you get your first time client to book a second
appointment but you've also got them to share your salon with all their Facebook
friends which really increases the likelihood of their Facebook friends
becoming first-time clients and getting on the salon profit circle.

Review The Revlon Salon 360 Surround StyleNew and NowByrdie

Hey, guys! It's Faith, Byrdies editorial director,
and today I am testing out a revolutionary new hair dryer. This is the Revlon 360 Surround AC Styler,
and at first glance, it might just look like any other hair dryer, but you can twist the
nozzle so that you can have this vent right here, and you actually put your hair through,
and it's supposed to smooth and kind of make your hair very sleek and give you that real
blowout, bouncy effect. I just think it looks so cool, and it is really
supposed to be a game changer, and I'm excited to try it out. So as you can see, my hair is damp.

I towel-dried it already. Usually when I blow-dry my hair, it ends up
being pretty poofy, and I end up having to take a curling iron or a straightener and
kind of smoothing it over, so I'm really hoping that this hair dryer will save me that extra
step and just make my hair look really smooth and sleek without having to use another tool
after blow-drying. So I'm gonna start off and put a little bit
this Bumble and Bumble Daytime Protective Repair Fluid in my hair. I like to put this in before heat styling
just to protect my strands and give them a little bit of shine.

It says to use this on damp hair, so I'm just
gonna run it through with my fingers. It smells really nice too. All right, so I put it through my hair, and
now I'm ready to blow-dry, so I'm probably gonna start rough-drawing my hair just on
the normal classic setting, and then once my hair is a little bit more dried, I'll start
using the smoothing section, so let's start. Okay, so as you can see, my hair is probably
50% dry.

It's getting poofier and poofier, so let's
try kind of turning it into this setting and seeing if it will actually smooth my hair. Well start with low. So I just finished doing this half of my head,
and I will say my hair is very straight. I don't necessarily know if it is as sleek
as I kind of was thinking that it would be.

It's almost like a little bit puffy. This is my natural hair texture that's air-drying
into these waves. Just to test it out, I'm gonna do the second
half of my hair just kind of using the traditional hair dryer without the straightening option,
and then maybe we can see if there really is a big difference. So as you can see, there really is a difference.

This side, remember I just rough-dried with
the traditional method, and this side I could turn that nozzle and use the straightener
effect. I don't know if it's as smooth and sleek as
I was expecting it to be, but there's definitely a difference, and I feel like if you're someone
who uses a blow-dryer and always has to use a straightener afterward, I don't know if
it'll completely replace using a straightener, but it does minimize the time that you might
spend. So I think it's a really fun, cool, innovative
product. You can get it for $59.99 At Target, Ulta,
and online as well, and, you know, I'm just constantly amazed at what cool innovations
are coming out of the beauty space, and this is definitely one of them.

Wow, you are gonna look great after this. This sounds awesome. Gino: Well, this is a kick off to historical
event for us because this is the first time that two PhD's have coming together to create
one awesome great look. Well now PhD meaning, me, Professional Hair Dresser, of course.

Male: And the real doctor here. Gino: Of course. The real doctor, that's right. Female: The MD.

All right. So you're gonna
do explain what the contest offers please. Male: Yeah. Where did the idea come from to? Gino: The idea came from we're used to doing
makeovers, of course, and that we take the bone structure and the facial features and
that's the picture, that's what the Doc's gonna take care of now, and then we take and
we put the frame to picture.

So were used to doing makeovers but this is the most extreme
makeover that we've ever done. Male: What are you gonna do, Dr. Brandy, that
the Gino can't do or wouldn't have done in the past? Dr. Brandy: Well, what we'll do is when we
picked the contestant, they'll come into my facility and then I'll get to know them, chit
chat, then I'm gonna analyze their face, bone structure and so forth.

And then I'll make
a recommendation. Might be Botox, some volume, and maybe even surgical procedures I do that
are very short, that are scarless, like the IQ, maybe taking a little fat from the lower
lid. There's a laser we can run under the skin, fat transfer. There's a lot of different things we can do
with this that don't have a scar and that can be done pretty quickly.

Male: So you're not talking a major face lift? Dr: Brandy: No, no, no, no. The things we're
doing in Izzazu would be procedures that take 30 minutes or less. That would be Botox, fillers,
volume like Restylane, Juvederm, you've seen that advertised on television. And then but
possibly we might even do some little surgical procedures.

Male: Well, here's a before and after. What
are we looking at here? Tell us what's been done in this picture. Dr. Brandy: Well, this would be volume enhancement.
You can see that the cheeks are a little bit fuller than they were before.

The nasolabial
folds are a little softer. So that would be... You know, you've seen the Juvederm commercials.
That's hyaluronic acid, so you kind of inject that into the area. You can see this woman, same thing.

The nasolabial
fold area, right in here, you can see it softer. Essentially we inject a little bit of filler
in there that will typically last anywhere from 6 months to a year. And then they would
come back in to Izzazu and have that repeated. Female: And so for the contest, you're gonna
do that and then you'll finish it out with the whole new hair and make up look? Gino: Of course.

The frame is what we do then,
and we look at the great work that the doctor has done. And just like any consultation,
we're gonna evaluate the bone structure, and we look at the facial features and then we
look at the hair. Our goal is to really try to come up with a really great look that's
gonna balance everything that the doctors doing. But most importantly, to be sure that
the contestant is gonna be able to reproduce that look at home...

We want them to be successful
as well. So it's really, really exciting because this is the first time, like I was saying
before, that two artists have come together to create one amazing look. Male: How long have you guys known each other? Dr. Brandy: Oh, we've known each other for
long.

Gino: We've known for a long time. Male: Did this thought never come up before? Gino: Well, you know what, we've talked about
it back and forth. The way I got to meet the doctor, he did my hair and when I went through
that, he did a phenomenal job, I get compliments on that all the time. And so we've had a great
relationship.

His work is meticulous. I love what he does. I'm huge fan of his work. And
then we just thought what would be great to do an Express Center in various locations.
And, of course, we have one that's located right in our downtown location.

Female: Meaning when people come to get their
hair done, they can also get some of these shorter procedures that you're talking about? Gino: Exactly right. Female: Right there at Izzazu. Gino: It's been perceived very, very well
to this point. We're doing really, really great because, you know, women are really,
really busy so we want to make sure that time is very valuable.

So we want to see have one
place where they want to go. Dr. Brandy: Put it to good use. Gino: Yes, exactly.

Female: Okay. So who can enter the contest? Gino: Well, anyone. We're looking for two;
a man and a women, as you were stating earlier. Male: By the way, typically guys, who's harder
worker on; the male or the female species? Dr.

Brandy: The females are way easier. Male: Oh! Is that right? Dr. Brandy: Men never listen to the instructions,
and it's that way around the world. I go to meetings.

I talk to doctors from China, India,
South America. They all say the same thing. Female: All right. So one man, one women.
Are you doing it based on the photos they send in or based on the story of why they
want it? How are you gonna decide? Gino: We're gonna ask for five sentences.
We'll keep it simple.

And then a photo of the front and the back and the side to side. Dr. Brandy: We could have a front and a side
view. Gino: Front and the side view.

And then the
process of doctor and I are gonna get together and we're gonna check out the photos and were
gonna read the stories and then were gonna go from that. Female: Oh, we can't wait to see the results.

People Dye Their Hair Gray For The First Time

(Drumming) (whooshing and creaking)
(drumming) (upbeat music) - I've never dyed my hair. I have no dying in to my hair so we'll see what it's about. - I'm not very nervous. Not very excited.

Afraid it's gonna hurt. Just feels like my head's being painted. - [Girl] I really hope
my hair doesn't fall out 'cause I super bleach it at home but I have really great
expectations for this. Like, I can't wait to have gray hair.

- I feel great right because I have these nice ladies distracting me from the fact
(ladies laugh) that I'm bleaching my hair. I'm going for, like Disney villain. So, I have pretty high expectations. - I don't have my glasses on
so I can't really see myself but what I can see
(woman laughs) I feel, like, I was like Cisco.

- I can see it going kind of blond. - In order to go gray you
need to lift their hair to the lightest yellow blond possible. No way possible you get
it that late in one shot. - Well, I just found out we're doing round two of the bleaching so (laughs).

- It feels like Play-Doh in a plastic bag. - It's looks pretty crazy right now. - Well, the liner does strip
the hair from everything - Mm-hm. - That was in the hair strand but the
- Yeah.

- B3 that we put in
the color helps deposit proteins, conditioning agents. So, even though we're
stripping out pigment we're still adding in proteins and things to keep your hair strong. (Upbeat music) - I think I'm tearing up. It burns so bad.

- I'm feelin' pretty good right now. So, I'm not crying like Leo. - Feel like a practical joke right now. - Three rounds of bleach.

- [Stylist] Three rounds of bleach. - I feel the need to apologize for how labor intensive it is. - I thought it was gonna be way easier. Kinda like a one two and go.

But no, we've been here for, I
think, like, three hours now? - [Girl] Finally putting in the gray. Oh, I don't know where I am right now. So many chemicals right now. - I'm really excited.

I mean, this was just the steps. So, I don't know. You don't know until it's all done. - This part's the most surreal.

The getting my hair cut and just having the hair falling off
green-gray is super strange. - [Leo] I mean, to think about the fact that just when I came in my hair was black and now it is gray. It's kind of impressive because
it's almost, like, magic. - I was a super light-haired girl so it's easier for them
but I couldn't imagine what it's like for a dark haired person.

- [Girl] I have had thoughts about whether this is, like, some
senior cultural appropriation. - I love it. - No. - [Voiceover] With your glasses on? Woah.

(Laughs) - [Voiceover] Look at that smile. - That's crazy. - I'm ready to take this
granny hair to the world. Show some whipper snappers how it's done.

- And really well done. My hair feels healthier
than before I came in. So, it's great. - I'm a fan.

It's definitely different and I don't know if I would, like do it again because it takes so much, such a long time to do it so I definitely appreciate
what it actually is for fun or for any reason. - It was fun. It felt like I was getting
my hair washed for, like, four hours straight. I'm into it.

- But damn, do I look good. I'm sorry, I love it. Robin did an amazing job. I feel like I have a
whole life ahead of me even though I look kinda 80.

Need a Pedicure Ask These Prisoners

(Upbeat music) - [Carmen] The day I was going to sign my papers to start working, there were 3,000 inmates
out there working iron and I was like.. What did I get myself into here? My name is Carmen Shehorn. I'm the career technical
educator for cosmetology at Valley State Prison For Men. When I tell people that I
work teaching cosmetology in a men's prison, a lot of people are shocked
by it, they're surprised.

They didn't even think
that it was available. This program takes approximately two years and they have to have 1600 hours completed in order to take the state board exam. There is a waiting list
to get into this class and in order to get into this
class, an inmate has to meet certain behavioral and
educational standards. You come into my class and
we're gonna treat each other with respect and common courtesy, and there's no boundaries in here.

- We're just gonna relax
your facial muscles, and improve your blood
flow throughout your face. My name is Juan Brizuela. I'm here at Valley State Prison
in Chowchilla California. My favorite part of the class
is the skin care part of it which includes the facials,
eyebrows and make up.

I like to see my clients relax
and get comfortable with me. It's real personal and being in prison, they teach you not to touch each other, not to touch staff. It goes against the norm of what people see about prison on TV, you know, ex-gang members, men with tattoos on their face, all over their body is not
something you see out there working in a beauty salon. It's putting a lot on a different side of the prison system.

- I do treat them as human beings. And I'm not here to punish them, I just here to show them
a skill that I have, and it happens to be in a prison. I have more empathy for people now, because of doing this type of work. When they get their license,
it's like I've gotten my license for the first
time all over again.

It's very rewarding..
